Northern Pacific Cuts Passenger Fares In State Lines

The Northern Pacific reduced passenger rates from four to three cents per mile across its state routes. While the move may reflect the Supreme Court ruling affirming the commission’s rate powers, it applies on main US chartered lines and state jurisdiction leased and branch lines. Vice President Oakes cites rising travel as the reason, though he avoids acknowledging the commission’s authority.
