River log drives threaten supply as waters fall
A letter from Fort Ripley reports river water dropping four inches per day. Nelson, Tenny & Co. note 20,000,000 logs at Fort Ripley and 50,000,000 at Brainerd may be moved this season with hard work. West branch drives at Tamarack and Prairie rivers are hung up with 40,000,000 to 50,000,000 logs stalled. Unless heavy rains occur, they stay for the season, but prices likely remain steady due to ample stock.
