N H Ingersoll and F W Wieland publish every Friday from Brain erd Crow Wing county Minnesota in Sleeper block rooms 5 and 7. Subscriptions cost 1 50 per year. Described as finest job printing office in the city.

Rich Boy wins a trot, theater plans and a new Daily News appear, plus rain saves crops and a cheap lace curtain sale boosts shoppers.
A. C. Boland extends thanks through these columns to friends who aided during the recent illness and death of his wife. They will be kindly remembered. The piece ends with a note about the Briar Pipe name in smoking tobacco.
Intelligence reported the sudden death of Robert E. Gleason, foreman at Stillwater's Turnbull mill. A belt started while he clear heat on a hot box, tearing him apart and scattering his body. He leaves a wife and four children, with funeral rites held in Stillwater.
A high society wedding at H. J. Spencer residence featured A. F. Ferris, cashier of the First National Bank Brainerd, and Miss Annie Steege. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. J. A. Rowell, followed by a lavish reception and a display of prized gifts, with guests from Brainerd and Minneapolis.
The excursion will occur a week from tomorrow with Peham as the target point. Railroad men from Como Fargo and other locations will be invited. A general committee meeting is set for this Friday evening to finalize arrangements and a grand time is anticipated.
CG H Wiley of the co operative mercantile on Tenth street leaves for Cavendish Vermont to marry Miss Katie H Deane on Wednesday June 15 at 7 pm at the bride's mother's house. They will return to the city Monday to make their future home. Congratulatory messages are expected from his many friends. Day & Meagher advertise the largest cheapest stock of men pants and overhauls. The story of Washington and the hatchet and Briar Pipe tobacco are noted.
The Wadena Tribune lauds C. B. Sleeper of Brainerd as he opens his first court term in Wadena. It notes his clear concise jury charges and courteous treatment of attorneys, while admitting the paper opposed his appointment last winter but now believes a fine selection with a bright future lies ahead.
A three to four year old girl of Sam Haley nearly fell thirty feet from the Zenith hotel top piazza on Michigan street. She missed her footing and landed on a temporary work bench of J. C. Murane. Protruding ends teetered and saved her from a fatal fall. Haley once worked at the Villard hotel. Briar Pipe tobacco ad aside.
At the adjourned board of education meeting the hiring of a principal dominated the session. Four members opposed to retaining Prof Wilson argued incompetency and heavy discipline, while petitions from about one hundred patrons supported keeping him. A vote to reject failed four to four, leaving the issue unresolved as several teachers offered to testify to Wilson’s fitness.
A nocturnal cow roams the city lifting bars and opening gates to raid gardens. The animal tramples rank vegetables and strips potato tops, peas, cabbage, and cans before daylight, prompting jokes about its audacious thievery and a future medal if it returns after Paris green exposure.
Monday night council reads minutes, approves sewer issues from prior meeting, and accepts treasurer and police reports showing $5,000 in receipts and $83,278.36 in expenditures. Budget actions include street work funding, bond for the street commissioner, and payroll of $434.16. Bills paid include McIntyre nails and Mertz prisoner boarding. Terrace Park plat approved and an Alderman race decided with M Cullen elected on formal ballot.

Chief Leopold called a meeting to arrange the annual drill and parade now set for June 22 due to the 18th railroad excursion. The event will feature a rink dance in the evening with neighboring city departments invited. Organizers include Tom Sanborn Jas Burton Jas Cullen Joseph Bozier James Dewar and P Mertz handling details.
A six year old milk cow described as white and red with a white face stripe and sawed off horn tips is missing. A reward is offered for information leading to her return to 43 Third Ave East Brainerd. Contact W. R. Pmurs.
At the June 3 1887 stated communication Aurora Lodge No 100 A F A M adopted resolutions mourning the death of Brother Silas P Fleming of the lodge and community. The charter will be draped for 30 days and copies sent to the family and city papers. Committee members named.
