Patriarchal Odd Fellows Gather in St Paul Delegates from West and East attend grand excursion
The Patriarchal Circle of Odd Fellows met in St Paul and hosted delegates from most Western states and some from Massachusetts. About 3,000 strangers arrived by train for the grand excursion. The first day opened with a Market Hall reception featuring greetings by Governor Hubbard and others, followed by a grand parade with six bands and uniforms. Officers were elected and a competitive drill awarded to Prospect of a War With the Cheyenne Indians. Paris boulevard tragedy ends in double death
Caudray the architect who was married and had children shot Mine Bessier, wife of a shop keeper, in a Boulevard Voltaire shop. He then killed himself with a pistol. Bessier learned of the affair and later died at the scene. He fled a raving maniac as police restrained the crowd. The motive remains unknown and Bessier may not recover mentally.
