Pardon Granted to Robert Fitzgerald and Local Fires Reported
The state pardoned Robert Fitzgerald, who had been sentenced by Judge Holland to 20 years for indecent assault at the 1895 Crow Wing county term. The pardon followed new evidence and support from the trial judge and prosecutor, aided by Henry Fleming. The same report notes ongoing scrutiny of Henry Jackson, also from Crow Wing county, with possible future court action and political interest. City hall deal advances with electrical station proviso, plus miscellaneous Brainerd council actions. A residence fire at 705th Street South destroys the Thomas home with no insurance, and a farm barn near town also burns with several animals lost and no insurance on the structure.
