In a misty woodland a Confederate rider is ambushed by British loyalists led by Captain Crowder. A female ally aids the capture but the rider's guard remains vigilant as Tarleton and Morgan move toward overt conflict. Old Pat the horse witnesses the danger.
Two men reappear from the woods guiding horses near a fire. Crowder and his band consume bread and meat while drinking heavily. Miss Howard confronts them as she watches the flames consume her binding handkerchief. The party, led by Crowder, revels in rough songs and mockery.
An advertisement touts Rocky Mountain Tea as a cure for dizzy spells tiredness stomach kidney and liver troubles claiming it keeps one well in summer.
