Planes Bring 72 Visitors To See Brady Creek Work
Eighteen planes carried 72 pilots and passengers from Texas Panhandle to Brady to tour the Brady Creek Watershed project. Officials from Soil Conservation and local government hosted the visitors, many from Plainview and surrounding counties, for a luncheon and program. Weather delayed the flight about an hour but all planes eventually landed safely and the party toured the site.

Wool Growers Vote to Continue Advertising Program
McCulloch County sheep producers favor continuation of the wool and lamb advertising program. In county results 151 producers with 72 292 sheep voted for the proposal versus 80 producers with 7 997 sheep against. If approved, a one cent per pound deduction on wool would fund the national advertising effort through the American Sheep Council for four more years.

Navy Airman Loses Leg and Foot in Carrier Accident
Earl Wayne Smith 19 of Brady Texas, on duty aboard the USS Midway in the Far East, was struck by an arresting pendant cable on the flight deck. His left leg was severed and his right foot amputated. he is hospitalized in Yotsuka Japan and may be flown to the United States as his condition improves. His parents Mr and Mrs Jack Williams reside on a ranch near Menard and were notified. Smith attended Brady High School and joined the Navy in January 1956. He is married with a baby son. his wife and child live in Bakersfield California. He may be addressed via the U S Navy Hospital Fleet Post Office San Francisco California.
