County Commissioners entered an agreement with the Pricia ry Control Service to hire a government trapper for nine months starting Oct 1. The county ranchers and service will share the expense, with ranchers contributing 797.50 toward a 1,000 total. They also discussed juvenile court funding and other local actions.
Coleman football fans travel for a big invasion of Brady Friday night as both teams sit undefeated. Brady principal C A Ethridge predicts a large crowd and moves the Bulldog Band to the west for seating. Fort Worth Star-Telegram ranks Coleman No 8 in AA. Coleman beat Anson 12-0 Comanche 200 and DeLeon 18-0 while Brady beat Ballinger and Winters. Coaches forecast a hard fought contest with Coleman’s steel nosed defense yet to be scored on this year.

Buzzie Stokes of Sonora writes that the Brady Lake project faces a long, hard road but will succeed with water committee and city officials backing it. He praises local citizenship and urges patience while the Caverns of Sonora attract attention.
Dr. Raymon M. Cavness of San Angelo, governor of the 584th Rotary District, will visit Brady for the club’s luncheon and talks with officers on administration and service. Cavness serves seven years as president of San Angelo College and has held multiple Rotary and educational roles.
Friday night schedule features Coleman versus Brady and Robert Lee facing Melvin in two high school basketball clashes. Both games expect strong guard play and home crowd support.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile ran late and finished with 65 pints collected, five short of the target. Mrs. J. G. Clawson, home service secretary, said calls to lists helped pick up late in the afternoon.
City Council buys a 2 1/2 ton 1960 garbage truck from Norman Motors for 2595 with trade in of the old unit and purchases a 1969 Plymouth patrol car from Brady Motors for 1050 with trade in of the existing patrol car. An ordinance closes unused streets in the Roddie Woo l Scouring Plant area and in the Dutton addition. A land committee is named to handle Brady lake project land negotiations. A plat by B Ernst Otte plans development for the city. A local Air Force Reserve unit will use quarters on the City Hall second floor. Buddy Seaton is authorized to paint a highway sign for Brady Municipal Golf Course and Swimming Pool. A luncheon with Texas Highway Commission officials is planned for dedication of the West Commerce Street bridge on Oct 20.
The weigh-in for the commercial feeding program is reset to Saturday October 1 not Monday October 3. Weigh-ins occur at Melvin 8:00 a.m. Brady 10:00 a.m. and Rochelle 2:00 p.m.
Sam McCollum resigned as Brady city attorney with his letter dated Sept 1 1960 stating he could no longer serve. The City Council met privately and accepted the resignation without public explanation after intensive behind closed doors discussions at City Hall.
William Riley Roberts 63 a Gilbreath's Food Market butcher collapsed and died at the store. He came from Eden to Brady in 1940 lived 1501 South College. Survived by wife one daughter Mrs Jack D Gray College Station one sister Mrs T B Edmonston El Paso and one grandson.
Jack Sloan of San Saba is the new president of the McCulloch County Electric Co op succeeding R R Faulkner of Pear Valley who retired. W E Hardin of Voca is named vice president and David Dahlberg is re elected secretary treasurer. Other directors include George Johanson Eden Earl Parks Richland Springs Taylor Duncan Mullin O E Beakley Mercury R J Deck Pear Valley and Carl Grelle Brookesmith.
