The Brady City Council in a special session approved a temporary 12.5 percent rate hike for all consumers including residential commercial industrial and the city's own power plant. The interim rate, set at 2.25 per thousand cubic feet, lasts 30 days or until a rate consultant completes final figures within about a month.
Beat Llano fever grips Llano as banners and signs flood town for the football season. Pep rallies spark up to 8:15 pm at Bulldog Stadium ahead of Friday’s district showdown with the Brady Bulldogs.
Brady Bulldogs favored in a high stakes showdown with Llano Yellowjackets for top spot in District 24A. Brady stands 7-0 overall with 2-0 in district play and a 222-60 scoring edge, while Llano sits 5-2 with 290-100 points. Coaches Jette and Baskin emphasize a high scoring, balanced attack and strong defenses in a game tipped to decide playoff representation.
The Bulldogs beat the Yellowjackets 33 19 in 1928 to start a long rivalry that has produced 21 meetings. Brady leads 10 10 with one 21 21 tie. In the last 12 years Yellowjackets have won nine of the encounters.
The time change occurs at 2 a.m. Sunday when clocks are set back one hour. Remember the saying Fall back in the fall and spring forward in the spring.

Lohn High School will host its annual Carnival on Saturday October 29. A barbecue supper starts at 6 p m in the school cafeteria with adults paying 2.25 and children 12 and under 1.25. The carnival will be held in the school gym after the supper.
Police Sergeant Maddox will lead the Police Department pending the appointment of a new chief. He and City Supt. Adair met with the council’s police committee to set a temporary order and address overtime, uniforms, and manpower shortages. The council plans a permanent plan while evaluating whether the chief will come from within or from outside.
Thirty three high school bands converge on Brady November five for a long regional marching event in Bulldog Stadium with 2,226 musicians and 600 supporters. Judges include Wes Hays, W. A. Anderson, and Bill Carrico. Morning sessions run every 12 minutes from 9:00 to 10:36 with Howard Payne University Band guest at noon. Afternoon program from 1:12 to 5:00 features Class A B and AA bands, two AAA acts Brownwood and Stephenville, and a Sweepstakes Award pursuit for Division I. Concerts will follow in spring. all-day event free with concessions open.
