Tour Demonstrates Range Practices On Mesquite Control
A range tour will be held next Wednesday to show range management practices and grass seeding. Sponsored by the local Department of Agriculture agencies and the Chamber of Commerce, participants meet at 9 a.m. at the Heart O' Texas facility and return by noon. The first stop is David Dutton ranch east of Lohn, where footplowing mesquite-infested pasture has been successful.

Pear Valley Fife Minister Dies at Home in Rochelle
The Rev. William Paul Anderson, 68, Methodist minister, died at 10:50 am Wednesday at his Rochelle home. Former Rochelle pastor, he led Pear Valley and Fife churches, served five years at Leander, born January 27, 1890 in Wisconsin. Survived by wife, two stepsons and two stepdaughters. Funeral at Wilkerson Chapel, burial in Rochelle Cemetery. George J. Parth named to succeed him on the Pear Valley Fire charge.

Brady Men Run Over 11 Rattlers On San Saba Trip
Elmer McLean and Earl Finlay report killing 11 rattlesnakes after a trip to San Saba and the return home on Monday night. They recovered seven skins as proof and suspect four more may have died. They saw no rattlers on the road when returning Wednesday night. Travelers are urged to watch for snakes along highways and tread carefully in hunting season.
