The firm Brady Shuffield Townsend announces the opening of a new Rambler dealership at 114 16 West Lockhart Street. Three new 19 2 Rambler models have arrived and are on display as invites go out for a gala opening and a Rambler Discovery Drive.
Brady Volunteer Fire Department officials and volunteers returned with two trophies from the Hill Country Firemen's Association semi annual convention in Ozona. Brady won first place in the three man race with a 13 second run and earned another for second in the one man race at 17 seconds. The three man team also placed third in water polo behind Coleman. The next meeting is set for April 14 in Winters.
A bonfire expected to burn through the pep rally was prematurely lit at the Thursday event before Friday night football. Students aimed for lasting flames through the rally, but the fire went up in smoke earlier than planned.
Llano travels to Brady to face the Brady Bulldogs with high school and 8th grade games on Friday. The schedule includes football action and local prep matchups.
The U S Corps of Engineers will survey the Brady area for potential fallout shelters and modifications costs. Col R P West invites local building owners to cooperate, noting success hinges on community support. County Civil Defense Coordinator Joe Ogden will assist in the survey as the nation-wide shelter program begins.
Special to The Standard Brownwood Texas Tuesday reports a Brady High School alumnus starring for Howard Payne as the Yellow Jackets upset Texas A&I 15 to 8. Dan Gandy rushed 49 yards on 17 carries to lead HPC, with teammates Royce Blackburn Shirl Gandy Dorman Riddles and Forest Hanson contributing. Hanson's 43 yard aerial and Riddles 20 yard catch set up the winning score. Blackburn, hobbled by an ankle injury, is expected back for the East Texas State game Saturday.
Bulldog coach K Y Owens warned that San Saba's Liano YellowJackets, with a poor season history, will face the 6 0 Marble Falls Bulldogs in a Friday game. He recalled 1959 state finals memories and noted Liano’s lineup includes Rogers at quarterback and Justis at tackle as they aim to rebound from three straight losses.
Stephen Kyle Gandy was born at 9 15 a m Tuesday at Medical Arts Hospital Brownwood to Mr and Mrs Dan Gandy. The newborn weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces. Gandy is an Howard Payne gridder and former all state fullback for the Brady Bulldogs. Mrs Gandy is Bette Rowden daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Bowden of Brady. Grandparents are Mrs Valerie Gandy of Houston and Barney Gandy of Baytown. Great grandparents are Mr and Mrs W R Duncan of Calf Creek.
U S Representative O C Fisher urged that foreign aid go only to committed friends at a Mc Culloch County Farm Bureau meeting in Brady High School. He criticized the Peace Corps Bill urban renewal and other federal programs while praising local watershed projects and warning against endless federal spending. He also screened the HUAC film Operation Abolition depicting 1960 San Francisco hearings.
The Christian Churches of Texas will swap ministers in a Pulpit Exchange with visiting pastors at morning worship. Robert C. Williams from Ballinger will preach in Brady and Ervin R. Watson will lead Ballinger's service. Williams and his wife Jane pursue world missionary service with United Christian Social Society.
Mr and Mrs Travis Moore and children Karen 16 and Mike 5 return to Brady after three years in Fort Stockton. They reside at 1609 South China. Moore a registered pharmacist rejoins City Drug pharmacy department.
Brady Lions Club hosts a pancake feed at Brady High School cafeteria from 5 30 p m to 8 p m before the Brady Llano game. Adults pay 74 cents plus one cent tax. students 49 cents plus tax.

Dolph Briscoe Jr state chairman says the week aims to increase urban rural understanding through speakers exhibits discussions and parades with Kiwanis International as coordinating agency.
Rochelle High School hosts Menard in a key District 8-B football clash Friday night. The Hornets will crown their football sweetheart and present a Mister Football. A victory keeps Rochelle in the district title race.
At a membership meeting on Tuesday the Texas Farm Bureau debated exempting farm machinery repairs from the 2 percent state sales tax and creating a committee to study Texas school textbooks for Marxist propaganda and indoctrination concerns. The group argued repairs burden farmers, and questioned safety and Americanism in curricula.
Rochelle youngsters from 6th to 19th grades join the Trick or Treat for UNICEF drive Sunday from 4 30 to 7 p m meeting at First Methodist Church to canvass the community and raise funds forUNICEF, aided by Methodist Youth Fellowship volunteers and led by Mary Dennis et al.
