Mrs Bernice Land is honored for twenty years of service at Perry's in Brady. She began in 1947 when the store opened, left briefly after two years, then returned to work five years as saleslady and the past fifteen years as office clerk and assistant manager.

Seventy two percent of Brady High School’s 1969 graduates chose further education. Of 73 graduates, 38 were girls and 35 boys. eight received diplomas merited and 14 sought employment. The largest college cohort, 11 students, attended Southwest Texas State University San Marcos.

Bud Morris 70 Dies After Short Illness

J. T. Bud Morris, 70, of Brady, died about 4 45 p m Tuesday in Brady Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services were held at 10 30 a m Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Goldthwaite with burial in Goldthwaite Cemetery. Roy Wilkins Funeral Home directed. Survivors include wife Eunice a daughter Mrs Boyd Hunt of Brady a grandchild and two great grandchildren.

Brady School Enrollment Tops 1372 With 36-Student Rise

Brady Independent School District reports 1,372 students for the system after a September to October gain of 36. High school 389, junior high 352, North Ward 114, South Ward 334, China Elementary 183. Board discusses SB 260 notice posting, driver education fee set at 30, and an emergency evacuation center use for China Elementary. City changes parking on Blackburn Street to ease congestion

City Council votes to switch Blackburn Street from Commerce to Second Street with 20 degree angled parking and a one hour limit from Brady National Bank to the post office. The move targets crowded traffic flows and eases parking for elderly drivers. Two new city employees join the water and sanitation departments. Brady Lake Park passes final inspection and a financial report is pending. Repairs are approved for the Excalibur Aviation lot at Curtis Field.

Air Tour Plans Howdy Stop at Brody Curtis Field

The 21st Annual All Texas Air Tour will visit Brody Curtis Field for a Howdy Stop from 9 45 to 10 30 a m on October 17. Texas Air Tours Inc promotes aviation appreciation and education and hopes a large crowd will greet visiting businessmen and visitors to showcase Texas aviation and its economic impact. Chamber manager George Purcell urged attendance and noted the tour showcases what Texas offers to America’s economy.

Covington Reopens Gulf Station in Brady

Mr and Mrs Bill Covington and children Billy and Gayle Ann have moved from Ozona to Brady. The Gulf Station at 306 South Bridge Street is reopened by Covington, an experienced operator and 22 year mechanic, inviting motorists to a welcome visit.

Brady Faces Spate of Thefts and Break-ins

Brady Police Chief Dorman Gibbs warns of a mid September surge of thefts, burglaries and attempted break-ins. Guns taken from pickups, car batteries stolen at Barton Motors, two homes broken into, bicycles stolen, and an air conditioner theft attempt. He urges residents to lock homes and vehicles and report suspicious activity.

Agricultural Tour Showcases McCulloch County Progress

The Brady Chamber of Commerce Agricultural Committee and McCulloch County Technical Action Panel sponsor a rural tour on Wednesday afternoon October 16. The caravan departs at 1 30 from the Brady Savings and Loan lot and visits about six sites to illustrate rural progress, with an anticipated three hour duration.
