Brady Council approves 35 percent share for drawdown tube work

Brady City Council in regular session voted to borrow funds to cover 35 percent of the drawdown tube reconstruction at Brady Lake with the Soil Conservation Service paying 65 percent. Project cost estimated $75,000 to $80,000, financing options discussed include SCS and local banks at 5 percent. Construction to begin around Jan 1 with SCS handling bids and supervision.

ICA Requests Brady ISD Pen Letter To Governor

Kenneth Bull of the McCulloch County Independent Cattlemen's Association writes Brady Independent School District trustees urging a joint letter to Governor Briscoe and state officials. Bulldogs Open Date Preview Before Marble Falls Clash

Brady Bulldogs head coach Paul Jette says the team has an open date this Friday and will focus on fundamentals and kicking drills this week to stay fresh for the Oct. 15 Marble Falls game. Steve Lawrence is the only injured Bulldog with a bruised knee but expected to be 100 percent.

John H Bradshaw dies at 69 in Brady

John Henry Bradshaw 69 of Brady died at 8 a m Wednesday after a short illness at Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital. Services set for 2 p m Friday in Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ray Ash officiating. Burial in Calf Creek Cemetery. Survived by wife Eula Mae Barnett, two daughters, two sons, a brother, a sister, 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

McLeod Rites Wednesday

Mrs. Dollie Odessa McLeod 79 of Pontotoc died Tuesday at Leisure Lodge Nursing Center after a long illness. Services were held Wednesday in Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joe Priddy officiating. Burial in Union Band Cemetery. Born January 19, 1897 in Pontotoc she lived in the community all her life. She married Clarence D. McLeod on September 15, 1915. She was a Baptist. Survivors include her husband two sons Marvin of Fredonia Carl and Neil of Midland two daughters Frankie Delz of Texan and Leonard Bird of Corpus Christi 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Brady Band Benefit Movie and Weiner Roast

The Brady band hosts a benefit movie and weiner roast on Tuesday Oct 12 at Scenic Drive-In. Gates open 6 pm, film Juggernaut with Richard Harris starts about 7 15 pm. PG admission 125 cents includes one hot dog, extra dogs 50 cents. Proceeds aid the Brady band program.

Farm Bureau To Elect Directors At October Meeting

McCulloch County Farm Bureau members meet at 7 p m October 11 in Brady Schools Cafeteria. A barbecue supper precedes a brief business session electing five directors for three years from among candidates including Chester Jacoby George H Johanson Leslie O Philipp Bobbye Hurd and E J Green. Registration at 6 p m precedes gift drawings including $25 cash a Montgomery Ward gift and two Safemark auto batteries.
