This week the Chamber profiles Jim Young who recently purchased M W Lettering Co. He moved to Brady four years ago and serves as the local State Farm Insurance Agent. His wife Gayle works at Brady National Bank, and the Youngs have three children.
Brady school meals for Nov 28 to Dec 2 include hot dogs fried chicken tacos and burgers with sides and desserts. M W Lettering Co run by Martha Welder and Helen Miller in Brady offers embroidery chenille letters and screen printing with future computer embroidery plans. Chamber thanks Brady Bulldogs and promotes Christmas Bonanza Dec 2-3. holiday office closures announced.
Comptroller Bob Bullock will send a representative to Brady on Wednesday November 23 to meet local taxpayers beginning at 9 a.m. in the District Courtroom of the McCulloch County Courthouse. Staff will assist on tax questions until 11 a.m. Local residents may address state tax concerns directly to the official.
The National Geographic Society identifies a 66 foot scroll written in hieratic script from about 35 centuries ago as Egypt's greatest medical document. It preserves 800 medical recipes and illuminates ancient Egyptian healing practices and pharmacology.
Henry C King Jr 54 of Houston died November 18 at his Briarcliffe lake home in Austin from an apparent heart attack. He failed to appear for a golfing engagement and was found by friends. Funeral services were held in Austin with private burial near Spicewood. Born June 9 1923 in Brady he later graduated from A&M University and practiced as an attorney and CPA. He served in the Far East theater in World War II. Surviving are his wife Ellen Jean Stanley a son Hank King of Houston and a daughter Karol King of Aus.
Tin, his mother Mrs. Gladys King of Brady, a brother Jack King of Fort Walton Beach Florida, and two grandchildren are mentioned in the brief obituary fragment.
