ASU Fresh Wins UW Walkathon

Angelo State University freshman Charlie Bradshaw led about 40 walkers to the finish in a United Way benefit event. He ran the 15 mile course in under two hours and won a 10 speed bicycle donated back to the drive.

GABC Meeting Slated Tonight at Brady High

The Girls' Athletic Booster Club will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday at 7 p m in the Brady High School band hall Choral Room. The agenda includes pep squad and junior high basketball team issues. Parents teachers and interested persons are invited to attend.

Brady Council Approves Gas Consultant Offer

In a special called session the Brady City Council approved hiring Sidlers as energy and engineering consultant for Brady and the Brady Municipal Gas Corp. The offer to Sers of Denver, Colorado, totals 24000 dollars yearly plus 15 cents per mile for travel and a 1000 dollar moving allowance, contingent on his acceptance.

Mitchell Replaces Spiller on Heart of Texas Museum Board

Heart of Texas Museum Board fills the vacancy left by Wayne Spiller’s resignation with Kenneth Mitchell, who will focus on history preservation for McCulloch County. Spiller’s book McCulloch County Scrap Book is due at publisher by December with proceeds funding museum improvements. The piece notes prior officers for 1975 76 and outlines related city and energy board concerns including Sers appointment and mayoral succession discussions.

Davenport Dies After Heart Attack in Brady

George W. Davenport 82 of Brady died on arrival at Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital after a reported heart attack. Funeral services were held Monday at Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. He was born February 22, 1893 in Richland Springs and lived in Brady 26 years, survived by three sons, a sister, a brother, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers named.

Brady Men Charged With Offenses

Two Brady men were arrested after they allegedly pulled a gun on a college student at Leo's Drive In parking lot. Terry Steward and Audie Braswell were found with marijuana and knives in a car at Jack's Restaurant lot and released on bonds of 500 dollars each.
