Doole Couple Celebrates Golden Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. T. E. McNeely of Doole marked their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Saturday November 4. Married November 5 1911 in Paris Texas they lived in Lamar County before moving to Concho and McCulloch Counties where Mr. McNeely farmed ran a grocery and did carpenter work. They are charter members of the Church of Christ in Doole and he served as elder. A gold lace cloth centerpiece roses and gold candles adorned the table with white and gold wedding cake punch and coffee served Visitors from Linton Paris Stephenville Melvin and other nearby towns joined local friends in Salem community for the celebration.

Mrs. Alex Grosse Jr Addresses South Ward PTA
The South Ward PTA met on a Thursday night led by president Mrs. W. H. James. The group approved a $329.25 budget for 1961-62 and planned Thanksgiving class parties. Mrs. Buford Sheffield Jr reported a Halloween Carnival profit of $381.59 and thanked organizers and the public. Mrs. Ramond Wilensky introduced speaker Mrs. Alex Grosse Jr of Mason, a former teacher and mother of three, who spoke on the pros and cons of Ability Grouping now in its third Mason school year. A Q and A followed, and Mrs. Collins’ room earned the room award.

Injured Brady Woman Hurt in Fort Worth Fall
Mrs. Willie J. Collins of Brady sustained several fractured ribs after a fall at her son's Fort Worth home. She will stay in Fort Worth until she can drive her own car again.

4-H Girls Learn To Make Shelves For the Bedroom
The Melvin 4-H Club met at Sandra Marshall's home on Monday October 30. Members shared Bedroom Improvement scrapbooks and learned to make simple bedroom shelves. Mrs W D Flemming led a demonstration on planing and smoothing wood with sandpaper and steel wool. Refreshments were served to the group including Kathy Flemming Debbie Weaver Gayle Taliaferro Josie Sandoval Barbara Schmitt Retha Fowler Jana Taliaferro and Mrs Floyd Marshall.

The Melvin Future Homemakers held a tea in the homemaking department on November 1. Cookies and punch were served to all who brought a Christmas card and a 10 cent stamped envelope. Mary Ellen Eckert collected cards and money while Mary Bella Rodriguez served the punch.
