McCulloch County favored the Democratic nominees in Tuesday’s general election and approved all three constitutional amendments. About 2800 votes were cast in the county, a solid turnout though not record-setting, reflecting broad support across the region.
The McCulloch County Achievement Event will be held in the Prady South Ward auditorium at 7 30 p m on Monday November 9 recognizing about 983 4 H members for the year 1964 4 H medals will be awarded for outstanding work in special projects demonstrations Gold Star winners will be named and pins presented the event supports the county and home demonstration agent Families and friends are urged to attend. Leon Lee of Rochelle was hospitalized at Brady Hospital Wednesday after a heart attack at his home early that morning. He was reported to be getting along well Thursday afternoon.
The Brady Lake and Simpson Lake subdivisions received council approval pending Commissioners Court action. Brady Lake, to be Lakeview Subdivision, contains 88 lots for public sale after legal processing. The council also backed Heart of Texas Men’s Golf Association plans for a municipal course watering system with 2880 dollars upfront and 500 dollars annually until paid.
Mrs. Talmage Wood 49 of Melvin died suddenly Wednesday morning at 10 30 in Brady Hospital after a six day stay for a sinus infection. Funeral services set for Friday at 2 30 at the Melvin Baptist Church with Rev R L Stuckey. burial in Melvin Cemetery. Survived by husband Talmage Wood son Gale Talmage and four daughters with several brothers and sisters and seven grandchildren.
At Brady Bulldogs final home game Friday night, children must stay in the stands throughout the contest. Superintendent C A Reynolds cites ongoing issues with children in end zones and along sidelines and asks parental cooperation. He recalls a nearby town incident where a rock was thrown into the grandstand injuring a woman, though not seriously.
The North Ward PTA will hold a night meeting in the school auditorium on November 10 at 7 p m. The fourth and fifth grades will present the program. All interested persons are invited to attend. Cynthia Poe was accidentally omitted from Reehelle honor roll. she is a seventh grade student.
Rainfall Tuesday afternoon soaked most of McCulloch County with Brady reporting .79 inches. Some areas exceeded an inch while Melvin and Doole received little moisture. The moisture improves small grain and pastures.
The Chamber of Commerce received new and redesigned brochures for Brady and McCulloch County. Designed by Frank Roddie Jr., the color brochure features schools churches the municipal pool Jubilee races Richard Memorial Library courthouse Brady Hospital and an aerial view of Brady. It includes images of local industry Loadcraft Brady C ombing Heart of Texas Mining and Roddie Wool. The brochure notes industrial growth and a brief history of Brady and McCulloch County with copies available at the Chamber office.
Mr. and Mrs. James Feazelle attended the Lions Club District governor's Cabinet meeting at Buchanan Lake on October 31 and November 1. Feazelle serves as District Zone Chairman. He also joined local president Boyd Hunt and secretary Gene Samuelson at a Zone Meeting in San Saba last Monday evening.
