Three Former Champs Compete In 18th Heart of Texas Invite
More than 100 golfers began qualifying for flighting in Brady's 18th Heart of Texas Businessmen's Invitational at Brady Municipal Golf Course. The family oriented tournament runs Saturday through Monday with entrants from across Texas and several out-of-state players. Sponsored by the Heart O' Texas Golf Association, the event features three former champions in a strong field.

Virgil Adams Dies at 80 in Rochelle Hospital
Virgil L. Adams 80 of Rochelle died at 1 a m Tuesday in Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital. Services were held Wednesday at Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ray Ash, burial in Rochelle Cemetery. Born Feb 13 1896 in Thorndale he married Lorena Neal Nov 25 1915 in Rochelle. Survived by son Billy Joe Adams of Brady and five daughters including Mrs. Johnnie Marie Ray of Irving and Mrs. Nancy Elgene Sharp of San Angelo. He was a retired farmer and Santa Fe Railroad retiree, a longtime McCulloch County resident and Baptist.

Summer Band Class Registration Opens for Freshmen to Beginners
Registration on Wednesday June 2 runs 8:30 to 9:30 for new freshmen and high school students 9:45 to 10:45 for new seventh and eighth graders and 10:55 to 11:55 for all beginners. Classes meet Monday through Thursday until the finale concert June 29. Tuition is 8 dollars per student for the four week course. Sessions occur in the high school band hall with no instruments brought to registration.
