Bill Gibson of San Antonio captured the championship flight in the Heart O' Texas Businessmen's Invitational after a rainout forced 36 holes of medal play. He fired an even par 71 Sunday and again Monday to finish at 142, two strokes ahead of Dr. Roy Waterhouse who led after the first round. Brady golfers Paul Huntington and Ted Archer tied for third at 147, decided on the scorecard playoff.
Racing Secretary Robert Strickland announces the Jubilee Meet will add a day with paint horse trials starting Saturday June 28. Futurity and Maturity trials kick off a busy weekend, with 61 Futurity entries and purses growing toward 22,000 dollars as 285 stalls fill.
Brady Band Director James Mallow announces summer band classes with registration on Thursday June 5 in the high school band hall. Sessions run 8:30 to 9:30 for all high school students and incoming freshmen 9:45 to 10:45 for seventh and eighth graders 10:55 to 11:55 for all beginners. Classes meet Monday through Thursday weekly and culminate with a July concert. Tuition is 7.50 per student and open to surrounding area students.
