Top Brady High Students Honored At Morning Assembly

Brady High School held an assembly naming top students in each class. Freshmen Becky Snodgrass and Charles McDonald led averages 95.25 and 93.20. Sophomores Jeff Robinett and Nona Neal posted 96.38 and 93.81. Juniors Elizabeth Nelin led girls with 95.60 and Hal Huffman topped boys with 95.58. Elizabeth McSwain and Peggy Scott received Angelo State University scholarships.

Hully Gully Golf Tourney Sunday At Brady Course

A Hully Gully golf tournament is set for Sunday at Brady Municipal Golf Course with a 1 30 p m tee off. Entry is 2 dollars and women are invited to enter. The McCulloch County Singing Convention gathers at 2 p m Sunday in Brady Housing Community Center. T Wood invites the public to come and sing as new books arrive.

Two McCulloch Men Hurt in Voca Crash

Two McCulloch County men, Jack West and Jess Petty, were in critical condition after a noon two vehicle collision near Voca on a dirt road west of the sand plants. Petty was pinned for about 30 minutes, suffering a compound left leg fracture and other injuries. West had a left forearm fracture and chest injuries and was listed in satisfactory condition.

Simmons Guilty Of Voca Burglary In 35th District Court

Oscar M. Simmons, 48, of San Angelo, convicted of burglary at the Pennsylvania Glass Sand plant near Voca. Jury found him a habitual criminal, his third felony, triggering a possible life sentence. Accomplice T D Wilson, of Menard, already pled guilty and was sentenced to five years with probation. Trial spanned McCulloch County Courtroom with Judge A P Allison presiding.

Showers Flirt With McCulloch

Thunder showers visited Brady in the early hours of Thursday, but the official rainfall totaled just .03 inches for the city. The southern part of town recorded up to .15 inches.

G R White Estate May Sell Water Rights To San Angelo

City Council hears that the G R White Estate in Fort Worth is negotiating with San Angelo for water rights on the Ford Ranch. The bank administrators stress any deal must not affect Brady water supply, or the plan will be rejected.

County Voters Turn Down Four Amendments in McCulloch

McCulloch County residents rejected all four amendments in the special election held Tuesday. Turnout was 621 county-wide with amendments one and two losing by over three to one and amendments three and four by nearly two to one. Statewide only the water quality bonds amendment passed, while the ethics pay, easier amendment program, and welfare referendum were defeated.

The Heart of Texas Jamboree will take place Saturday night starting at 7 p m in the Brady High School auditorium. Visiting bands include the Blue Grass Kinfolks of Tuscola The Youngquists of Abilene and the Blue Valley Boys of San Saba.

Bloodmobile visits Brady Tuesday for blood drive

The Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit Brady on Tuesday May 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fourth and Bridge Street Church of Christ. Those signed up will be notified by the Young Homemakers. others are urged to donate a pint to help McCulloch County meet its quota.

FHA Designated to Make Emergency Loans to Farmers

McCulloch County is designated by the Secretary of Agriculture for emergency loans to farmers and ranchers with losses from drought and adverse weather. The designation runs through June 30, 1972, covering losses from high winds, hail, or flood. Loans are available at the FHA County office 214 S. Blackburn Brady.

Jane De La Cerda daughter of Mrs Ramona De La Cerda of Brady received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Texas Woman's University at the Spring Commencement exercises held last Saturday May 15.

Lifesaving Classes Offered at Brady Municipal Pool

The American Red Cross Lifesaving program will be taught at Brady Municipal Pool this summer with free public lessons starting June 7 for four weeks. Adult classes run Tuesday and Thursday 7 to 8 p.m. Junior and Senior Lifesaving sessions begin May 31 with varied schedules, private lessons available, contact Chris Allen at 597-2458 for information.
