Brady educator Harvey Sutton dies at 57

Harvey H. Sutton, 57, English and social studies teacher at Brady Junior High for 19 years, died suddenly Sunday of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Bridge Street Church of Christ with burial at Rest Haven Cemetery. He had recently been named principal of the new East China Elementary School. He served in World War II and held degrees from Howard Payne College, Southwest Texas State, and a UT law degree. He is survived by his wife Ruth Petty, four sisters, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews.

Melvin Resident Melvin Bergstrom Dies After Illness

Oscar Simon Bergstrom a Melvin resident of three years died Monday morning at Good Samaritan Rest Home after a long illness. Funeral set for 10 a m Wednesday at Wilkerson Chapel with burial at Melvin Cemetery. Born February 18 1884 in Sweden he came to the United States at age three with his parents John and Mrs Igstrom. He was a retired carpenter. Survivors include brothers John Bergstrom Alexandria Minnesota Richard Bergstrom Miltona Minnesota and Victor Bergstrom San Antonio and a sister Mrs H B Button Melvin.

21st District World War I Veterans Convention Held

About 85 people attended the 21st District Convention of World War I Veterans and Ladies Auxiliary at the National Guard Armory in Brady despite heavy rain. County Judge K O Ellington gave the welcome, Howard C Mayse and Bill Spurgin delivered talks, and new officers for 1965 were elected for both groups.

Lightning Causes Major Fire At Cox Gulf Station

Cox Gulf Station on the San Angelo Highway suffered heavy damage early Tuesday from a fire likely sparked by lightning. The sales area and merchandise were destroyed, with glass windows blown out. Merchandise loss estimated at 6000 to 7000 dollars. building damage awaiting insurer estimates. Fire alarms failed, but most firefighters arrived promptly. shop and gasoline pumps remained open.

Mrs Herrington 93 Dies in Brady Texas

Annie Mary Herrington aged 93 died at 2 15 am Sunday in Brady Hospital. Born June 15 1871 in Hopkins County she had lived in Brady 19 years and is survived by husband A J Herrington two sons H H Herrington of Carrizo Springs and Frank Herrington of Brady a sister Mrs A B Shaw of Dallas five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services were set for 2 pm Sunday at Wilkerson Chapel and at Riker Son Chapel in Colorado City with burial in Colorado City Cemetery.

120 Boys Sign For Summer Baseball Brady Plans

Brady Jaycees Complete Stanburn Park Water System
