Brady Junior Golf Tour draws 100 players from 15 schools

One hundred junior golfers from 15 schools attend the Brady Junior Golf Tour event this Saturday. The two brackets separate larger and smaller schools with tee times at 9 00 a m and 1 00 p m. Participants include top players from O Henry Lamar Finkenhofer Nimitz San Angelo Kerrville Madison Junior High and others.

Cancer Crusade Canvass Slated

The house-to-house Cancer Crusade for McCulloch County is planned for Friday night with Bill Spurgin as chairman. He is aided by Brady High School seniors and juniors, the Brady Jaycees providing transport, and Pioneer Natural Gas Company serving as canvass HQ.

Loadcraft Ships First Load of 1500 Trailers for Army Contract

Loadcraft Inc ships the first batch of 1500 small 2%-ton utility trailers from Brady plant under a 1550 unit contract worth about 1.2 million dollars. VP Bob Moellinger says production will run through May 1965 at six trailers per day alongside other work. The trailers serve the Army Corps of Engineers for pole carrying and cable laying. Ed Davenport equipment of Brady hauls the initial nine to Lathrop California.

Brady Jaycees Report on State Meeting at Corpus Christi

The Brady Jaycees sent five members to the State Junior Chamber of Commerce convention in Corpus Christi. First Grad Parents Meet Next Week at Two Wards

Get acquainted programs for parents of children starting first grade next year will be held at North Ward and South Ward. North Ward at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday May 5 in the first grade classroom. South Ward at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday May 6 in the auditorium. Brady Junior High School students elected Mike Leifeste president of the Student Council for next year after a runoff with Mike Pennington. Frank Carmichael won the vice presidency in a runoff with Doug Snowden, and Judy Bryson will be secretary after defeating Kathy Jackson. Bring Poll Tax Saturday McCulloch Voters Asked

Voters in McCulloch County are urged to bring poll tax receipts for Saturdays dual party primaries. Democrats stamp receipts with VOTED while Republicans run a single voting box at the Conoco station. Brady Democrats vote at the courthouse from 8 am to 7 pm, with Jaycees offering transport.

South African Guest to Attend Brady Rotary Ladies Night

John Ansley 22 a Grahamstown South Africa exchange student will attend Brady Rotary Club ladies night on May 19 at Plateau Restaurant. He is part of the world Rotary matching program promoting understanding through club exchanges. Ansley works in wool and mohair on a ranch near Uvalde and is in the U S for a year during a two day Brady visit.

Post Office to Trim Services Next Week

Brady Post Office will reduce services starting May 4 under a national economy move. Parcel post won’t be delivered on Tuesdays and only one window will operate Saturdays from 8 30 a m to 12 noon for stamps and parcel post acceptance. Other services like money orders and registered mail will not be offered. Regular mail delivery remains unchanged.

Draft Board Calls 15 Men for Exams

Draft Board No. 89 in Brady will induct one man and call 15 for physical examination May 21. The local call is part of a state quota of 258 men. The quota will be filled mostly with volunteers under 26 and non volunteers 19 through 25. Most will be 22 years old.
