He was active in the San Saba Soil Water Conservation District and Brady Presbyterian Church and served as a Masonic elder. Survivors include his wife four sons his mother two brothers and a sister. A memorial scholarship fund was created at Commercial National Bank in Deridg es.

William James Stafford 79 of Doole died at 4 a m Wednesday in a Levelland hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be 2 p m Saturday at Doole Baptist Church with Rev. Troy Morris officiating. Burial in Stacy Cemetery. Born Oct 16 189 in Dallas County he lived in McCulloch County most of his life. His wife was killed in a March 1968 three car accident on US Highway 7. Renubin Thomas also died in the mishap. Survivors include a sister Mrs Ophelia Whattey of Cedar Hill and a number of nieces and nephews.
