Violin Made by Hand Amid Machine Age
Lester Freeman, son-in-law of M C Hallmark of Doole, crafts violins entirely by hand despite the era of mechanization. Living near Lake Brownwood, he builds each instrument from carefully selected wood, testing tone as it progresses. He uses about 70 pieces of wood and a finished violin weighs about 16 pounds.
