Bulldogs Win Bi District Meet Winters In Regional Playoff

Brady Bulldogs battled Comanche Indians in Brownwood and won 67 to 61 in overtime to claim bi district honors and earn a regional bid. Marion Lewis led Brady with 31 points, Reeves 16, as Fletcher fouled out late for Comanche. The team heads to Lubbock Saturday to face Winters at 11:30 AM with KNEL radio covering the game.

Ex Tax Assessor W W Walker Dies at 77 in Brady

Wiley William Walker 77 former McCulloch County tax assessor and rancher died 5 45 p m Tuesday in Brady Hospital after over a month hospitalized His funeral was held Thursday at Wilkerson Chapel with Rev Allen Brown officiating Burial was in Live Oak Cemetery He was born Sept 23 1887 in Brady and lived there all his life Married Gillie Macy April 5 1915 they lived at 1302 South Pine for 45 years He served four terms as tax assessor and later worked in the assessor collector office Survivors include wife daughter Louise Geeslin two grandsons William and Richard Geeslin sister Mrs H D Bradley brothers L S Walker and Guy Walker]

Chapel Pastor Is Ordained In Ceremony

The Rev. Frank Pullin of Brady's Baptist Chapel was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by the First Baptist Church. The ordaining council included Brady Baptist Association pastors and deacons. The ordination sermon was by Rev. Mickey Warlick of Mason on Quench Not the Holy Spirit.

Dunbar PTA Serves Turkey Dinner Friday at School

The Dunbar PTA will host a turkey dinner on Friday evening at 5 p m at the school. Dinners are available to go, with pickup at the school. Menu includes turkey and dressing fried apples salad green peas cranberry sauce hot rolls and cake. The price is 1 25 per plate with proceeds funding playground equipment.

Trustees Okay Bids on School Equipment

The Brady school trustees opened bids for kitchen cabinets and cafeteria equipment for the new Homemaking Department. Taylor Manufacturing Co. won the kitchen cabinets bid at 4260.51 dollars, Dallas Fountain and Fixtures won the cafeteria equipment bid at 13944.32 dollars. The superintendent said bids were well within estimates.

Brady's 8 AA champion Pupettes beat Rocksprings 60 to 52 in Bulldog gym. Mary Zimax led with 23 points, Kay Lankford 14, Sara Lederman 15, and Beba Lea Harris 15 as Brady built a 14 point halftime lead and kept ahead through three quarters. Rocksprings outscored Brady in the final period 21 to 11.

Brady Public Schools Week Visit Schedule

Brady residents are invited to attend Public Schools Week March 1-5 with each school hosting a visitation day featuring assemblies and programs. East Ward Dunbar hosts 7 to 9 p m open house while North Ward highlights a KNEL radio program and fifth grade hobby show. The Heart of Texas Band Festival and Bulldog Stadium marching contest conclude the week.
