Fifty entries from Brady McCulloch County and beyond begin the Fifth annual July Jubilee parade at 10 Monday. Entrants assemble 9 00 for judging. Features include a Webb Air Force Base flyover at 9 15 and a 92 foot long Santa Fe miniature freight train.
A Brady group has acquired Parkway Lanes and formed Parkway Lanes Brady Inc. They will take over operations July 1 with M. L. Wootan as president and offices for H H Jones Fred A Bryant and J D Bailey. The lane will open to the public afternoons and evenings. Seven more stockholders will join the 23 signed. Parkway Lanes has operated since December 15 1960.
Rev and Mrs Harry Bamberger returned from Memphis where they were with his mother Mrs H C Bamberger who underwent surgery and remains seriously ill.
Jubilee schedule lists events from Friday to Wednesday including Miss Heart O Texas pageant at Bulldog Stadium Open Jackpot Roping at Jubilee Arena and Richards Park shows Horse Races at Jubilee Armory and Jubilee Race Track Dance at National Guard Armory featuring Rick Sikes and his Rhythm Rebels Activities run through Wednesday Also note Jonce Adams released from Brady Hospital after injuries from a horse accident at two weeks ago.
A. E. Hoss Flanagin was admitted to Brady Hospital on June 17 and remains seriously ill, according to relatives.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile collected 35 pints, far short of the 79 pint goal on Wednesday. Local volunteers and donors are named, with concern voiced over potential loss of the blood service and the impact on medical emergencies in McCulloch County.
The Texas Employment Commission will conduct a labor survey in the Melvin High School library Monday at 5 PM to assess McCulloch County manpower. All residents, whether employed or not, are invited to take the tests which take three to four hours. Melvin Lions Club will provide drinks and cookies.
Aubra Augusta Seal aged 68 a Brady Post Office rural route carrier died at Brady Hospital after a period of ill health. Born November 2 1893 in Salado he served as carrier on Rural Route 1 in Brady since 1933 moving from Bangs where he worked since 1920. He married December 21 1917 and lived at 601 South Blackburn Brady. Funeral at First Baptist Church Saturday at 3 p m with Wilkerson Funeral Home in charge burial at Rest Haven Cemetery. Survivors include his wife a son Oren of Houston a daughter Mrs H G Allbright of Oklahoma and four grandchildren.
Mrs H A Otte 76 a Brady ranchwoman died at Brady Hospital at 10 30 am after a stroke at her ranch home seven miles south of Brady on the Mason highway She was born June 17 1886 in Mason She zuas survived by a son Fritz Otte a daughter Ida Mae Sears five sisters all of Mason and a brother Bill Gross of Mason and three grandchildren.
Norman West, a Brady barber, suffered serious burns Sunday evening at 6 at his home. He is convalescing in Brady Hospital with burns to the upper and right side of his body and expects to resume work at Turner Barber Shop in about a week.
Three Brady band school students join Janice Breckenridge Diane King and Rose Ann Reynolds for a trip to Abilene for the McMurry College Band School from July 15 to July 27. The program focuses on instruments drum majording and twirling.
Sixty registered Angora billies have been selected for the July Jubilee Billy Sale at Richards Park next Wednesday. Each breeder may enter up to five goats and a sitting committee including David Bratton and Norman Drake made the selections. The sale opens at 9 30 a m with Willard Jordan as auctioneer. Overnight pens will be available at the Richards Park show barn. The Jubilee Stock Show entries close by 9 a m Monday and the sheep and goat show starts at 9 a m Tuesday with about 120 sheep entries.
Ticket Chairman Glenn Kittle announces box seat tickets for the Jubilee horse races are on sale at Rudder Drug Store and the Kittle's insurance office behind the drug store. Races run next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. He says sales are strong through Wednesday.
Judge Mayes ill so unable to attend the 365th annual July Jubilee as horses from Oklahoma Louisiana New Mexico and across Texas arrive. R M McCarver named to replace him as judge with purses and entry fees totaling at least 6000 across days of racing starting 2 p m Monday through Wednesday.

Dr. and Mrs. Posey Collins depart Dallas Friday for New York and a chartered trans Atlantic flight to London for the First International Congress on Oral Surgery. They will attend a four day meeting of the International Dental Congress in Cologne and return July 27 from Paris.
