Do Not Water Until Well No 2 Repaired
Brady residents were urged to conserve water as Well No 2 at the power plant was shut down after production fell 200 gallons per minute this week. Chief engineer K H Nixon said a hole in the water column may be allowing water to feed back into the well. Crews from San Antonio worked to remove a cas ing and locate the hole, with no clear timeline for reassembly. The plant normally pumps 915 gallons per minute, but output has declined. three other wells remain in operation: No 1, No 3, and No 4.

In hot dry weather McCulloch County farmers and ranchers are urged to watch for grass fires. Ranchers with equipment in the rural fire protection system should keep sprayers ready. 26 cattle sprays from 50 to 500 gallons are mapped and kept filled, with reports to the Chamber of Commerce at 2420.

Meat 7500 Pounds Ready For Jubilee Barbecue
David Quinn has 7500 pounds of meat ready for the Jubilee free barbecue next Tuesday. It will be the biggest barbecue around here in years. Meat donated by McCulloch County residents is stored at Roddie & Co. A 1000 gallons of Kool-Aid and a half ton of red beans accompany the food. Serving begins at 11 a.m. in the west end of Richards Park with ten serving lines planned for rapid service.
