Thirty five McCulloch County girls vie for Miss Heart O Texas 1959 in Brady High School Bulldog Stadium as part of the July Jubilee. The event profiles two rival groups from today’s Standard and last Tuesday’s Herald with tickets available at City Drug and Rudder Drug.

Pioneer Freight Line Leader C. B. Whitehead Dies
C. B. Whitehead, 79, a pioneer Brady freight line operator, died at Brady Hospital. Born April 22, 1880, he founded Brady Freight Lines, which joined Sunset Motor Lines in 1939. He served as Sunset president until 1945 and retired. He lived at 702 West 13th Street and leaves a wife, two sons Gene and C L Whitehead, two daughters, brothers Paul and Street Whitehead, four grandchildren, and other relatives. The Rev. Fred Cox and the Rev. Roy May conducted funeral services at Wilkerson Chapel. Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Churches Join In Jubilee Rites In McCulloch County
Trinity Methodist Church will speak at the fourth annual Union Religious Service opening Jubilee Week in Brady. Outdoor 8 p m at Brady High School stadium. Rev. Lewis S. Redwine presides. The service features Mrs Jacks as song leader and a pianist Mrs Otte. A mass choir from participating churches will form for the event.

Brady Guardsmen Depart Sunday for Fort Hood Training
Seventy one Brady National Guardsmen sail Sunday morning for two weeks of training at Fort Hood. The unit, now a Combat Support Company in the 36th Division, will operate two tanks two armored personnel carriers and a 99 mm self propelled gun during the course. Four officers accompany the group and a long list of guardsmen follows.
