Letters from readers nationwide celebrate Brady's Bicentennial edition issued in 1976. Messages praise the color, accuracy, and effort that produced a single comprehensive issue. A California reader recalls local histories and asks for another copy, while Brady townsfolk express gratitude for the outreach and post office help.
Band members report times are set for June 30 9 30 a m and July 1 7 30 p m with percussion at 6 45 p m on Thursday. Music includes This Is My Country Band Campers and National Emblem March. Ex members urged to participate in the July Jubilee parade.
Tickets remain for the Bicentennial Open House and Home Show Sunday sponsored by the Exemplar Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. The event runs 2 to 5 p m with tickets from Gift Gallery Lintzs Millers and Heart of Texas Pharmacy or at the Services for Silas B Ragsdale 79 of Houston funeral. Chamber of Commerce Office opens 1 30 to 5 30 p m with 10 homes on the list including Johns Miller and Mary Evridges unique apartment visitors choose their own path during the hours.
Charles Robert Hinds Junior, 14 months, of Brady died Monday at Concho County Hospital. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Camp San Saba Cemetery. Born April 10, 1975 in Big Lake, he is survived by parents, grandparents, and great grandparents in Brady Meridian and Brady areas.
Students enrolled in summer band classes will present a concert on the high school lawn at 7 15 p m Friday. There is no admission fee and the audience is asked to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the program.
The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority sponsors the 1976 Miss Heart O' Texas Pageant with the theme Let Freedom Ring. Eight candidates will be judged in appearance personality poise and talent with a Bicentennial salute. The event, 8 p.m. Saturday at Bulldog Stadium, may move to BHS auditorium if weather turns inclement. Judges from Brownwood will interview contestants Saturday morning at Brady Housing Community Center. Saturday night features talent and evening dress judging. K. K. Steffens will welcome attendees and Gerald Johnson will give the invocation.
The Lohn Doole Stacy area in northwest McCulloch County sees oil and gas activity with 25 barrels per day from Beimer No 1. Megargel Drilling reports 17 wells drilled in three months, seven dry, others producing oil or gas. Explorado Oil buys crude. tanks and a separator were built for transport access.
Hulan Duncan and Tommy Carlson, Brady High School graduates, plan a 50th class reunion in 1977 likely during the July Jubilee. They seek addresses of classmates and request contact by phone 597-2857 or 597-1484 for out-of-town members planning to attend.
The 49th Brady July Jubilee starts Saturday at G Rollie White Downs with races from 250 yards to five-eighths mile. The program includes the Paint Horse Futurity heats with a $10 000 final purse and a Sunday Derby trial with a $4 500 purse.
