Loadcraft Inc of Augusta Kansas joins Brady Industries at Curtis Field to manage plant operations. The Kansas company will lease space from Brady and take on BI management duties as expansion pushes into military markets. President John C Moellinger cited growing sales as the reason for the move.

Brady Lawyer Joins Supreme Court Bar From Brady Area

Lt. W. M. Jordan of Brady was admitted to practice before the U S Supreme Court after a ceremony in Washington. He and his wife, the former Sherron Smith, met justices and plan to apply for admission to the Texas Supreme Court as well. Jordan serves in the Navy Air Force legal department based in Pensacola, Florida, and is the son of Mr and Mrs V E Jordan of Brady.

Five Brady Guardsmen Begin Six Months Active Duty

Five Brady National Guard members depart for six months of active duty with the U S Army as part of their guard training. Names include Larry Henderson and Jerry Poe joining Fort Leonard Wood training with Elgin Beckmann, Wayne Lurber, and Bobby Moran. Telco Golf Tourney To Be Played At Brady Course

The second annual Telco Golf Tournament for Southwestern States Telephone Company employees will be at Brady Municipal Golf Course on Saturday June 9. Expectation of more than twice the 16 players from last year with guests from Texas and beyond. Four flights awarded medals plus special prizes. Olympic Program Draws 86 Boys for Weight Training

Bull Dog Stadium hosts a morning track and weight lifting program with 86 boys enrolled. Coach Ed Whiteley adjusts start times by grade level from 8:15 to 9.00 a.m. The hour long sessions run Monday through Friday. High school night workouts shift to Monday Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. open to grades nine through twelve.

Choir Director Receives Degree at Howard Payne College

George Archer, choir director at First Baptist Church, earned a Bachelor of Ministry of Music degree at Howard Payne College during graduation exercises on Thursday May 24. Archer will reside in Brady.

City Sells More Bonds To Continue Lake Work

The City Council voted to sell an additional 89,000 in water works bonds to the Farmers Home Administration to fund Brady Lake construction. This brings total bonds issued for the lake to 840,000 of the original 1,485,070. In other action a petition to annex 3.5 acres of the Plateau Motel property was noted.

Summer band classes start Monday at Brady High

Brady High School begins summer band classes in the band hall with director James Mallow stating students should bring instruments. Registration times for new freshmen and high school students 8:50 to 9:30 a. m. new seventh and eighth graders 9:45 to 10:45 a. m. and new sixth graders 10:50 to 11:50 a. m. six weeks of instruction run Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays through July 20 with a $7 registration fee.

Free Swim Classes Start Monday at Municipal Pool

Four week program at the municipal pool offers free swimming instruction for children through eighth grade and women of all ages. Non swimmers meet Monday Wednesday Friday while swimmers attend Tuesday Thursday. women’s class runs 8:30 to 9:30 a m. Schedule lists age groups and times. children under six require first grade admission.

HD Trainee Nancy Holcomb Starts County Assignment

Miss Nancy Holcomb 22 will work in McCulloch County for three months as an in trainee home demonstration agent for the Agricultural Extension Service after training with County HD Agent Mrs. Vyvien Dun cope. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Lural P Holcomb of Fort Worth and a Texas Wesleyan College graduate, having attended Birdville High School class of 1958 and been active in the SEA Baptist Student Union and Gamma Omicron.

Air Force Officer David Drake Dies on Duty in Paraguay

Lt. Col. David C. Drake, about 40, died of a heart attack while on duty as military attache at the U S embassy in Asuncion Paraguay. His body was sent home to Breckenridge for funeral services. He and his wife Betty Jo Gault of Sohn have two daughters. He previously served at Goodfellow Air Force Base San Angelo.

Stock Feeding Winners Named by Chamber Program

Thirteen winners in the Commercial Feeding Program were announced after final records. Ten dollar certificates go to first place, five to second, and three to third. Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, the program gives McCulloch County 4-H and FFA youths practical livestock feeding experience and an educational spring trip for all contestants.
