Crowded Brady Social Security Office Sees Claims Boost

In Brady 44 people inquired about benefits on Tuesday with 14 filing claims. Legislation now allows men under 65 to share Social Security benefits and other amendments were noted by field rep Neil Tarvin. The crowd marked the largest since 1956 when farmers gained program access.

Spinner hub caps stolen from auto on used car lot

Four spinner type wheel covers were removed from a 1958 Mercury Monterey on Jack Chandler's used car lot at First and Bridge Streets. Thieves tore out valve stems, leaving tires flat. Chandler estimates each cover at $50 and notes a prior theft from the same car months earlier.

Angus Bull Killed On Highway Near Calf Creek

An Angus bull valued at about 700 dollars was killed when it was struck by a motorist at 11 30 Tuesday night near Calf Creek. The driver Elby Brannon Jones Jr of San Angelo escaped injury. his car sustained about 200 dollars in damages. The bull had escaped a pasture and wandered onto the highway as Jones was traveling toward Brady.
