Brady Woman Keeps Wide Doll Collection at 70
Mrs Walter Beherns of Brady McCulloch County amasses about a hundred dolls in a single room of her Old Mason Road home. She buys at rummage sales, receives donations, and even pieces together incomplete dolls. She dresses them, fashions clothes, and uses vintage treadle sewing machines to make outfits. She also collects jewelry used for doll decoration and preserves rare items like a model of The Spirit of St Louis. She farms, tends her church yard, and enjoys family visits with her grandson and great grandchildren.

Floyd Marshall a Melvin Schools administrator for 36 years 25 as principal and 11 as superintendent has taken a post as high school principal biology and math instructor at Santa Anna High School. He earned a BS in science from McMurry College Abilene and an MA in school administration from Hardin-Simmons University Abilene. Early in his career he moonlighted to supplement his income working weekends in a grocery store and keeping books for a lumber company while serving as Santa Fe Railroad vacation agent. He has been active in community affairs.

Arnold Sandoval twenty of Melvin is jailed on a five thousand dollar bond after assault with intent to murder his wife, charged in Joe Myrick's Justice of the Peace Court. Sheriff Luke Vogel investigated the Sunday afternoon incident at Mrs. G. P. Gafford's Melvin home.

Brady Housing Authority fills all 90 units in four sites
Brady Housing Authority reports all 90 Brady Low-Rent units filled after a long effort since October 1967. Four sites house elderly and family tenants with rents from 18 to 57 dollars monthly, average 30.12. Applications still accepted for future renters and wait list.

Future Brady Bulldog Track Winners Named
Brady Summer Recreation track program under BHS coach Del Wilson completed this week after a two week contest. Jimmy Walton led the 7 8 year olds with 51 1/2 points while Curtis Owens won the 9 10 class with 54 and Bill Ragsdale topped the 11 12 group with 56 1/2 points. Ribbons went to top three in each event and 50 to 60 boys participated.

John J. Cole 57 Buchanan Dam Resident Dies
John J. Cole, 57, of Buchanan Dam, died at 2 45 am Wednesday at Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 3 pm Thursday in Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with Jamie Hemphill, Mason Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial followed in Voca Cemetery. Born February 20, 1913 in Rochelle, he owned and operated Big John’s Barbecue Stand at Buchanan since 1967. He married Marie Deans Capps June 7, 1967 in Burnet. Survivors include his wife, a step son Sonny Capps of Brady, two step daughters Betty Ellis of Buchanan Dam and Harlen Lang of Mason, three brothers Clarence Cole and George Cole of Brady and Bruce Cole of San Antonio, a sister Stella Lord of Brady, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
