County Superintendent Replies to Taxpayers League
Emitt Herod, McCulloch County School Superintendent, argues the office costs two rooms on the third floor of the courthouse, is state funded, and would not drain local funds if abolished. He notes his role as fiscal agent for small districts and that abolishing the office could raise local taxes or shift duties to the county judge. The State Board recommended phasing out state support for county superintendents, boosting debate on the office’s future.
