Mothers’ March Set For Next Thursday In Town

Volunteers are urged to help with the Mothers’ March next Thursday evening January 2 percent. Mrs. Frank Roddie chairs the effort and BradyWomen will assist. Residents will be canvassed and asked to light porch lamps to show support for the March of Dimes and its four focus areas including arthritis birth defects disabled polio patients and rapid research to prevent these diseases. Mrs. Roddie emphasizes practical aid and public support to fund the Salk polio breakthrough and a healthier future for children.

Brady Junior High Band Concert Sunday

Graduating eighth graders will be introduced during the Brady Junior High Lion Band winter concert in the Brady High auditorium. Under director Joe McDonough the program begins at 5 p.m. Tickets cost 50 cents for adults and 60 cents for students. Sally Miller will announce the program and student conductor Robert Shurtleff will lead one number. majorettes and the drum major will be featured in another.

Father of Bradyite Buried at Durant

Mr and Mrs R J Cates and daughters Ann and Jan returned to Brady Oklahoma from Durant to attend the funeral of Lonnie Wright 71 of Bokchito who died after a long illness Wright a Bryan County citizen and former county clerk and commissioner services were held at the Durant Wright was a Texas native who had lived the past 50 years The obituary lists survivors including a wife two daughters and other relatives

Voca Road Plans Debate Leaves Brady Split

Brady officials and about 20 representatives heard highway officials discuss the Voca FM 734 route. Public input favored tying the road into Brady at the Y where U S 87 and Menard roads meet, while the state proposed a plan to join U S 87 south of the city limits to save about $60 000 in costs.

City calls annual election for April to fill expiring terms of Aubrey Townsend Louis Bierman and R M Priesmeyer. Council approves contract with Southwestern States Telephone Company to share poles and pays 2175 for a new police patrol car. A CAP radio transmitter will link with the national net for emergencies. Discussion covers highway plans routes and traffic safety at Menard intersection and the Y traffic circle with support from business leaders and residents.

West Commerce Seeks Crossing for U S 87 Traffic

A group of West Commerce Street business owners urge the City Council to study a low water crossing over Brady Creek to keep U S 87 traffic moving during a new bridge build. Officials warn feasibility is unlikely while outlining a yearlong project with traffic rerouted via North Bridge and West White Street.

Brady High School boys A and B teams overwhelmed San Saba with convincing victories while the Pupettes won. Cadillos limited as Brady led 13-1 after the first quarter and held a 91-7 halftime edge then 48-12 third-quarter surge. The girls game featured San Saba and Brady players with final totals showing Brady ahead 60 to 32.
