Brady's first Dollar Day drew 14 merchants despite cold weather and illness. Shoppers bought papers with coupons for a $100 drawing, boosting afternoon activity. Organizers plan monthly sales on the first Wednesday with March 1 expected participation. The $100 winner will be announced in The Herald next Tuesday.
Lesley R. Sprott of Brady earned the Distinguished Student ranking at Texas A&M University. The junior animal science major met a 3.25 GPA minimum, enrolled for at least 15 hours, and had no grade below C. The honor is limited to the top 10 percent of undergraduates.
