Dave J. Morrie of Brownwood WHE sued BE Atieorn as district attorney for the Sixth Marchriet, a motion noting Morrie’s prior service as 35th district attorney. A native of Lamousas, he is a Brownwood High School and Howard Payne College alumnus, with a law degree from the Vicery of Texas School of Law. He has practiced in Brownwood since 1959 and was once Brown County attorney before World War II.
Mrs Ellen Nora Thompson, a long time Brady pioneer, died at home on Church Street at 9 25 p m Tuesday. Born October 15 1986 in Atascosa County she was married to a former Brady livery stable owner Survivors include son Claude of Rochelle three daughters Mable Thompson Klatt and Johnnie Thompson of Brady and a granddaughter Ellen Nora Thompson Father Phillip Byron conducted the 2 pm Thursday funeral at St Patrick Catholic Church burial followed at Brady Cemetery Pallbearers were Fred Wulff John Moran Milt Miller R S Moseley Bert Hughes and W J White
Brady High Bulldogs basketball coach Ed Whiteley will start workouts next Monday December 30 instead of Saturday. Many players may miss the weekend deer season and Christmas break. The schedule lists three home games with Mason next Friday and a series of district road games starting January 17 at Lampasas and January 21 against Menard. District play venues will host both boys and girls on the same nights with the AB game at 5 45 p m girls at 7 p m and A team boys at 8 p m
Mr and Mrs Don F Johnson visit Auburn Alabama for the holidays staying with Franklin Johnson and family. Dr Johnson teaches veterinary medicine at Alabama Polytech. Also James Edward Powell of Lovington New Mexico visits relatives in Brady and with C R Powell and Clyde Powell families and Pliny and John Roles.
The Brady Herald will not publish next Tuesday as the Brady newspapers relocate to a new plant at South Bridge and First Streets. The Standard will publish on its usual schedule next Friday from the new plant.

One of the finest mule deer heads was exhibited this week by R. B. Thornton who had it mounted by Conrad. Thornton killed the 16 point buck in northern New Mexico in late October while hunting with his son in law Floyd Zimmerman of Santa Fe. The deer field dressed at 2237 pounds with 190 pounds of venison processed from the kill.
Brady High’s Bulldogs will miss nine graduates including ends Dorman Riddles and Robert Roddie and guard Larrys Smith. Coach Chuck York plans a solid 1958 lineup from returning players and younger talent to push for another state finals run.
Bulldog supporters logged about 2108 miles on the road visiting cities including Del Rio Fredericksburg San Saba Marlin Georgetown San Marcos and Waco for a total round trip.
Major A. I. Quicksall announces a recruiting push for a new Air Reserve unit at the GEkih Air Reserve Center. Benefits include full pay and allowances during a two week annual active duty tour, mobilization pay, retirement points, and eligibility for promotions. Meetings run at the National Armory with further info in the lobby of the Grandy Hotel. a 7:30 p.m. gathering at the National Guard Armory is planned.
