Children gather for Brady’s annual pre December Santa visit with joyful expressions. Santa Claus shares a warm moment with each child as cameras capture the festive scene highlighting the season’s spirit.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile visits Brady at First Christian Church next Thursday December 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donors 18 to 60 may give a pint with consent for 18-21 year olds. McCulloch County aims for 70 pints to meet its yearly quota of 207, with : new donors needed to avoid shortfall.
Brady Bulldogs fell 45 42 to Brownwood Lions on Tuesday. Brady led 17 10 early and 22 18 at halftime before Brownwood surged ahead led by Louis Hillyard 15 points. Brady’s Charles Reynolds 19 and George Kidd 13 led scoring. Brownwood Teague 12 and Wetzel 13 paced winners. Brownwood B team won 56 40.
The Brady Theatre hosts a free Christmas movie called Everything But the Truth this Saturday at 10 a.m. Sponsored by the Brady National Bank, it aims to entertain both youngsters and adults with two hours of family friendly cinema while parents shop, according to manager Cay Caywood.
The City Council met with Austin attorney Jim Wilson to discuss Brady joining seven other Texas towns in a damage lawsuit against electrical equipment manufacturers alleged to have caused damages. The session focused on legal actions and potential involvement of Brady in the suit.
News from Hillsboro reports the death of Rev Murray Dickson age 45 a Methodist missionary to Bolivia since 1943. He and Dr Louis Tatom III were in a car that plunged 1500 feet on a narrow Andes road near La Paz. Tatom died instantly and Dickson died en route to a hospital.
The Lindsay home on Old Calf Creek Road won first place in the city Christmas decorating contest, with a Santa on the roof and a festive yard scene. Judges praised Brady residents and noted 15 to 20 strong entries across both residential and commercial divisions. First prize is 25 dollars with other awards totaling 15 and 10 dollars plus plaques and honorable mentions.
Mrs Maxine Samuelson will become manager of Parkway Lanes bowling center January 2 succeeding Jerry Simpson who resigns January 1. Simpson, manager since last March, is returning to Brady Industries Inc. Samuelson has worked as an insurance secretary for Winston and Hall agencies and has been active in local bowling circles. She says she loves the sport and sees its possibilities.
The Santa Fe Railway is rebuilding its tracks in the Brady area using new maintenance machines and expert crews. The project covers Lometa to Eden, 98 miles, and Whiteland to Menard, 26 miles, with ties replaced and stamped for life records, plus a vapor drying process to extend wood life.
The Dunbar Steel basketball team from Brady defeated Ballinger 91 to 86 Monday night in a high scoring game.
