Fisher Sees Watershed Work Model for Nation

Cong O C Fisher praised the Middle Colorado River Watershed program led by Soil Conservation Service and local officials. He cited 206 detention structures planned or built, including 42 on Brady Creek and 43 on Jim Ned Creek, with further projects in Lower and Upper Pecan Bayou and various laterals. He noted the Brady Lake project as a national model for water supply and flood control, stressing its value to security, land values, and farming livelihoods.

Pioneer C A Johnson Dies at 94 in Brady Hospital

Carl August Johnson a McCulloch County East Sweden settler died at 6 25 am Monday in Brady Hospital after illness since July 1958. Born in Smaland Sweden June 5 1866 he came to the United States at 15 and to McCulloch County in 1889 helping build the East Sweden Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son Ernest Johnson and three daughters Hazel Nelin Lucille Liverman and Mrs Emil Nelin with four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at East Sweden church with burial in East Sweden Cemetery.

Templeton Ex Richland Man Dies in Fort Worth

James Franklin Templeton 86 a Richland Springs resident died Sunday in Fort Worth where he had lived the last 10 years. Services 2 p m Tuesday at First Baptist Church San Saba burial Richland Springs Cemetery. Survivors include four sons Owen George Wilbur Alton and four daughters including Mrs Lane Ashcroft and Mrs Garrett.

Truck Driver Dies in Wreck Near Proctor

Vernon Louis Seward a Brady truck driver was killed Friday night when his truck overturned while avoiding a car coming from a sideroad near Proctor twelve miles east of Comanche on U.S. 87. He was hauling 28 head of cattle for H. D. Griffith & Son of Brady and died in the resulting fire after the gas tank ruptured. The other vehicle driver Ted Hood of DeLeon escaped with minor injuries. Seward lived in Brady at 1200 North College and was born Sept 5 1923. Funeral services were held at Wilkerson Chapel with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. Survivors include his wife two daughters two stepdaughters his parents a sister and two brothers.

Pontotoc Rancher Stacy Miller Dies at 61

Stacy Miller of Pontotoc, a 61 year old rancher and former Lower Colorado River Authority worker, died Sunday night at his home. Born in Kingsland, he lived there before moving to Pontotoc 12 years ago. Funeral held Tuesday in Llano with burial in Pontotoc Cemetery. Survived by wife, father Ed Miller of Kingsland, two step-daughters in California, Mrs Sue Anderson of Brady, two sisters, Mrs Felix McAllister and Mrs Ona Bedford of Kingsland.

Open House Set Sunday at Curtis Field Plant

Mexico City Senorita Visits Brady High Classes

Maria Victoria Ibarrolo, an 18 year old bilingual secretary from Mexico City, visited Brady High School's Spanish classes. She spoke about herself and Mexican customs, staying with Brady residents Mr. and Mrs. Henderson and guests of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Frederick.
