McCulloch County Stock Show Set For January 15
The McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce Livestock Committee has set January 15 for the McCulloch County 4H and FFA Junior Livestock Show and Premium Sale. Dan Miller chairs the event with Red Simpson as auctioneer. About 100 animals are expected, with roughly 40 to be sold, featuring cattle, sheep and swine. Trophies and ribbons will honor category winners.

Range Fire Burns 200 Acres South of Brady
A range fire burned about 200 acres five miles south of Brady on Wednesday afternoon before being contained by Brady and Menard Fire Departments with help from volunteers. Civil Defense Director J. W Hughes said parts of the Tol Roberts, Dr Merlin McAnelly and Billie Roddie ranches burned. cause unknown. The fire was controlled around 6 p.m. after four livestock sprayers were deployed. No livestock losses were reported.

MH MR Implements New Health Services
The Central Texas Mental Health Mental Retardation Center plans new mental health services for seven counties. A $400,000 National Institute for Mental Health grant funds offices in each county with a full time mental health worker and a psychiatrist. Hartley Sappington of the Texas Department visited to train staff during an intensive period. Roy Cronenberg said the grant supports a diagnostic team and followup personnel across the seven offices.
