Taylor Pastor Accepts Call to Baptist Church
The Rev. W. A. Irvin, 37, has accepted the post as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Brady. He will move December 15 and preach his first service December 18. Irvin has led Taylor’s First Baptist for six years and previously led Immanuel Baptist in Temple for seven and a half years. He is Baylor University educated with 16 years in ministry and is married with two daughters. Burnel Davis chaired the pulpit committee.

Methodists Let Contract for Education Hall
A contract for a new educational building at the First Methodist Church was let Monday night to Do. A. Watson of Brady. The 100 by 96 foot one story structure, costing about 50000 dollars, will be built from ripple stone rock from the Archer quarry at Comfort Texas. Construction should finish in about 150 days near May 1. The plan centers on a 40 by 50 foot open court with grass and a barbecue pit, plus a fireplace in the fellowship hall. Earl Todd chaired the building committee.

Cotton farmers vote on quotas Tuesday across McCulloch County
McCulloch County cotton farmers will vote next Tuesday on continuing marketing quotas for the 1956 crop. Eligible voters include those who planted cotton in 1955 and wives. Polls open 9 am to 6 pm at several local locations. A two thirds voting yes needed to keep quotas, affecting price supports and penalties. Allotments totaled 17 152 acres across 490 farms. last year 18 804 acres across 539 farms.
