Taylor Pastor Accepts Call to Baptist Church

The Rev. W. A. Irvin, 37, has accepted the post as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Brady. He will move December 15 and preach his first service December 18. Irvin has led Taylor’s First Baptist for six years and previously led Immanuel Baptist in Temple for seven and a half years. He is Baylor University educated with 16 years in ministry and is married with two daughters. Burnel Davis chaired the pulpit committee.

Brady High A Honor Roll Lists 43 Students

Forty three Brady High School students appear on the all A honor roll for the second six weeks. City Marshal Warns on Firecracker Gun Practice

Golden Jones this week warned youngsters not to make firecracker guns from lead pipe and fire metal bullets. Anyone caught using the guns will be arrested and fined, he said.

Brady High School junior class presents The Able Miss Cain a three act comedy at 7 30 Friday in the BHS auditorium. Miss Laurie Barfoot directed with final rehearsals this week as students perform in a Valleyview living room setting with a large cast led by CleAnn Ethridge Johnny Hendley Barbara Brook and Patricia Wood. Humble Agent Transferred to San Angelo

George A. Young, Humble Oil Company agent for 18 months, will relocate to San Angelo as district merchandising assistant. He will be succeeded in Brady by Joe Caudle of Seminole. Young, his wife and two sons plan to move around year end and he starts in San Angelo January 1. He has been active in the Lions Club and First Baptist Church, Brady.

Lehn Seniors to Present Rocking Five Show

The Rocking Five from Coleman will perform a western music program at Lehn next Monday night. Sponsored by the Lehn Senior class, the group includes Dean Baird Jay Stages G E England Rusty Estes and James Stewart. Methodists Let Contract for Education Hall

A contract for a new educational building at the First Methodist Church was let Monday night to Do. A. Watson of Brady. The 100 by 96 foot one story structure, costing about 50000 dollars, will be built from ripple stone rock from the Archer quarry at Comfort Texas. Construction should finish in about 150 days near May 1. The plan centers on a 40 by 50 foot open court with grass and a barbecue pit, plus a fireplace in the fellowship hall. Earl Todd chaired the building committee.

Cotton farmers vote on quotas Tuesday across McCulloch County

McCulloch County cotton farmers will vote next Tuesday on continuing marketing quotas for the 1956 crop. Eligible voters include those who planted cotton in 1955 and wives. Polls open 9 am to 6 pm at several local locations. A two thirds voting yes needed to keep quotas, affecting price supports and penalties. Allotments totaled 17 152 acres across 490 farms. last year 18 804 acres across 539 farms.

Bulldog Band Tops In Interscholastic League Contest

Brady High School Bulldog Band earned a first division rating in the Interscholastic League marching contest in San Angelo with four judges awarding the top rating. Brady sextet earned first division in twirling led by Drum Major Diane Roddie and five majorettes. Individual twirlers Betty Woodard Karen Hartley Jan Harvey and Glenda Fowler received top marks while others earned second and third division ratings.
