Lohn High School restarts its annual invitational tourney in McCulloch County with eight girls teams from Paint Rock Rochelle Centennial Melvin Millersview Mozelle Talpa and Lohn and four boys teams from Paint Rock Centennial Mozelle and Lohn. The event runs Thursday to Saturday Dec 8 9 10 with daily schedules and semifinal and final rounds for both genders.

Heart Attack Fatal To San Saba Man
Jack Senterfitt, 30, of San Saba died at Brady Hospital after a heart attack. He was stricken at Bell's Feed Store Tuesday night and was a stock supervisor for Western Hatcheries of Dallas. Survivors include his wife and two young children. he was nephew of Reuben Senterfitt, former speaker of the Texas House and gubernatorial candidate.

Wool Scouring Plant Tours At Roddie Brothers
Wool buyers and warehousemen visiting from government sales toured the Roddies new scouring plant in town. The plant operates 24 hours a day six days a week, employs about 40 people, and cleans roughly 24 000 pounds of grease wool each day at full speed. The Roddie brothers Jack Frank and Bill were praised for establishing the facility, with a formal countywide opening planned for later.

New Trial Set Saturday for Lackland Airman Shaver
Arrangements for a new trial for Jimmy N. Shaver will be made Saturday morning in Judge A O Newman s 35th District Court. Shaver was condemned to death in 1954 for murder but the case was reversed on appeal and a new trial ordered. Shaver has been jailed in San Antonio pending action on the appeal.

17th Street Paving Project Completed
Southside residents enjoy new paving on West 17th Street as Abilene contractor Harry Campbell finishes the job last Saturday. The project runs from South Bridge Street in Brady west to Dodge and into Melvin. A second county project near the northeast also completed. Fredericksburg contractor Allen Keller finished a 12 mile road from Mercury east into San Saba County joining Farm Road 45 north of Richland Springs on November 14.
