Musical “Purpose” by Young Methodists at First United
A musical titled Purpose written by Phillip Landgrave will be staged Sunday at 7 p m in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church San Angelo. Thirty youths will perform with guitarists flutists basses violinists and drums as Brady area youth welcome attendees with a social hour and refreshments after the program.

Cateses Enter Tree In State Contest
Mrs Walton Cates of East Sweden near Brady believes a live oak on her front yard qualifies for the Texas Forest Service contest. The oak measures 164 inches in circumference at four and a half feet, stands 52 feet tall and has an 80 foot crown spread. The tree has graced the Cates family for generations since the Dan Hurds owned the land.

Brady Swinging Squares present a benefit square dance on Saturday at Brady Lake Pavilion from 8 to 11 pm with Curtis Thompson of Midi City as caller. Four Ranchers Seek Injunction Over School Tax
Four farmers and ranchers filed a suit on August 13 in the 35th District Court against Brady Independent School District the Board of Equalization and School Tax Assessor Collector John S Lewis seeking temporary restraining order temporary injunction and a permanent injunction. Judge Joe Dibrell presided at the August 24 hearing. Brady hosts its first amateur rodeo at G Rollie White Downs with nightly 8 30 p m shows from Thursday to Saturday. Harold Heath produces the event, a downtown parade opened the three day affair, and admission is 150 for adults and 75 cents for students. Proceeds share with the city and titles include bareback riding steer wrestling calf roping bull riding and team roping with fees per event per night.

The United Latin American Methodist Church begins a building project to construct a new church at White and Walnut Streets. The project costs 21800 dollars and seeks additional funding for furnishings and a parking area. Contributions may be sent to Brady Texas or San Antonio Texas addresses, designate for the new church.
