Birthday Party Held For Mr Rollie 80

A barbecue supper for Commercial National Bank directors and officials became a surprise 80th birthday party for president G Rollie White. Curtis Norman hosted at his Colorado River camp between Inks Dam and Granite Shoals with fishing swimming and boat rides. Guests included Mr and Mrs W L Miers Sonora and Houston visitors among many others.

Wool Promotion Plan Rejected by McCulloch County Producers

County ASC final tallies show 44 producers with 22 275 sheep favored an advertising and promotion plan for wool and lamb while 96 producers with 27 519 sheep voted against it. Plan would be financed by deductions from incentive payments on wool and requires two thirds sheep representation to take effect.

Trucks Collide near Salt Gap injures no one

A pickup driven by Winfield Waits of Doole and a truck driven by Clarence Carter of Austin collided at the Salt Gap and Pear Valley roads Monday. Waits’ vehicle tipped on its side with about $100 damage and lost sacks of cotton seed. Carter’s truck incurred about $20 damage. Both vehicles were moving slowly, officers said.

Wichita woman attends uncle's funeral then visits Brady

Mrs. Roy Russell of Wichita attended the funeral of her uncle J. A. McKinnon in Hillsboro last week. She then visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Clark in Brady before returning home in Kansas last Saturday.

Brady Girl 19 Injured in Auto Truck Collision

A 19 year old Brady girl Miss Margaret Tedder was injured in a crash on the San Angelo highway. She suffered a broken left thigh and was taken to Brady Hospital after being pinned in wreckage. Rex Kelso 28 of Brady rode in a demolished 1951 Pontiac with passenger Billy Jim Anderson 17 who had cuts. The truck 1955 Chevrolet driven by Anastacio Salazar Herrer 41 of San Antonio carried 300 bushels of apples. no injuries to the couple. Accident occurred four miles east of Eden about 3:30 am Sunday. Kelso escaped unharmed. A C Siler of Melvin transported Tedder and Anderson to hospital. highway patrol investigated.

New Brady school bus routes approved for Voca and Camp San Saba

County School Board approved two Brady bus routes No. 1 and No. 2 serving Voca and Camp San Saba after enrollment declines led to loss of a third bus. Route No. 2 starts at driver J D Owens home and covers multiple houses and farms before Brady. Route No. 1 alters at a point 144 miles east of Voca before following the old Brady route.

Brady Bulldogs Welcome Deryl Griffith After Eligibility Nod

Brady High began practice for the 1955 season with full gear and plays in progress. The District 7-AA executive committee, meeting in Coleman, approved the eligibility of Deryl Griffith, a 200-pound junior tackle who moved to Oklahoma last spring and has returned to complete his high school education and football career.

Ol’ Houn’ Dawgs coach Chuck York told fans after a Brady High barbecue that area writers have Brady Bulldogs pegged to win District 7-AA. He said Star-Telegram’s prediction is nearly right and that it will be hard to knock the Bulldogs off their perch.

Mrs Henry Land was elected president of Brady Hospital nurses for the next homecoming set for August 1957. The event followed a Saturday meeting at Brady High School with about 100 attendees including Drs J G McCall and J S Anderson and longest employed staff member William Anderson.

Girl Scout Leaders Plan Fall Program in Brady Meeting

Mrs. Roy A. Hoyle, new director of the Heart of Texas Girl Scout Council, met with Brady leaders and county chairmen from Brown, Mills and McCulloch to plan the fall scouting program. Jean F. Williams will chair the organization and attend a three county meeting in Goldthwaite next week. An association meeting of Girl Scouting in Brady will be called soon.
