The Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Sunday breakfast at Curtis Field now Brady Industries to welcome World War II aviation personnel and flying enthusiasts. Demonstration planes will be present as instructors from Curtis Field visit Brady airport facilities and air strip. Norwood Elected Melvin Mayor to Succeed Waldrep
Chuck Norwood Jr. was chosen in a special Melvin election to succeed resigning mayor A P Waldrep. Waldrep and his wife moved to Prady and bought a home at 1005 South College. Waldrep remains president of the First National Bank of Melvin. Norwood, a 1925 Texas A&M graduate, has McCulloch County ranch interests and returned to Melvin in 1955.

Brady Lake project workers seek housing apartments offered
City officials urged Brady residents to prepare furnished apartments and parking for trailer homes to house about 50 workers expected for the Brady Lake project. Four railroad survey workers arrived and more engineers and staff from Soil Conservation Service and Farmers Home Administration are due in months. Local officials estimate one to one and a half years of work, with owners advised to advertise or use agents.

The Brady Chamber of Commerce Retail Trade Committee tentatively set October 13-14 for the annual McCulloch County Exhibits Show. B M Winkler an 81 year old rancher with 50 years of work at the helm died in a Brownwood Hospital. He resided in Richland Springs for two decades. Graveside services were held at Cox Cemetery near Mercury with Rev C S Reece officiating. Survivors include two daughters Viola Winkler and Oral Treadaway two sons Vess Winkler two sisters two brothers eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Vera Mills, and granddaughters Michele, Pamela and Fern Tilton, with Mrs. Howard Salter, returned Friday July 28 from a two weeks vacation.
