Doctors report healing puncture wounds but skin and bone grafts for both legs are pending with infection in the left leg cleared. City County Resume Flood Work in Brady Creek
Heavy equipment from city and county teams clears Brady Creek channel around the business district as part of a five year joint project. Crews from all four precincts spend two weeks each summer widening and straightening the stream to allow faster floodwater flow. This year the creek bed is dusty and dry, and crews are cutting a 14 foot notch east of Elm Street to remove a bend in the channel.

Funeral services for J Farris Baker 55 will be held at 5 p m Friday at the First Methodist Church in Fort Stockton. He died Thursday morning after two years of ill health. City Faces Suit Over Manhole Accident In Brady
Woodrow Metcalf of Brady sues the City of Brady for $12 009 claiming negligence left a South Walnut Street manhole raised after a rain washout. Linda Sue Metcalf, 7, was injured when a car driven by Merton Irish hit the manhole on Dec 1 1954. The city paid Linda Sue’s medical bills $96 50 but she refused to sign a release. A settlement was reached with Irish for $175 for car damages. Attorney Evans J Adkins represents Metcalf.

Crockett Reed Dies in Eden at 74
James Crockett Reed, 74, a Concho County resident and former Pear Valley resident, died at Eden Hospital. Born June 12, 1882, in Burnet County, he married Ora Hime in 1909. A former State Highway Department maintenance superintendent in Brady, he later worked in Big Lake and Eden before retiring in 1942 to stock farm in Henderson, Concho County. Funeral was at Pear Valley Baptist Church with burial in Pear Valley Cemetery. Surviving: wife, a brother Mandy Reed of Llano, and sisters Esta Davis Fort Worth, Elmo Simmons Corpus Christi, and George Vineyard Doole.
