City council approves a five cent per thousand cubic feet surcharge for the gas company to power Brady’s plant. Rate for the plant rises from $1.00 to $1.25 per unit, but residents’ rates remain unchanged. Rain Revives Texas Pastures After Big Weekend

Camps Post Office Closes After 100 Years in 1976
McCulloch County’s oldest post office will shut on June 4 1976. Postmaster J W Britteen of Camp San Saba was notified the office will close. If kept open two more months it would have reached its centennial after opening on August 8 1876 with postmaster William H Moorehead.

Crop Reports For Farmers In Texas Detail Questionnaire
During late May about 24 000 Texas farmers will get a crop acreage questionnaire from W H Walther Agricultural Statistician In Charge for the Texas Crop and Livestock Reporting Service in Austin. The data will determine planted acreage by state and by county and support county estimates provided by the legislature. This is a cooperative effort of USDA Statistical Reporting Service and the Texas Department of Agriculture.
