Brady City Council Approves Telephone Rate Increase

Texas Highway Department awarded contracts in March for hot mix asphalt pavement on US 377 from the Colorado River to FM 1028 in McCulloch County to Abilene Paving Co. Inc. The 11.4 mile job is overseen by District Engineer Lawrence E. Schulz with Ben E. Dillon of Brady as department engineer. A second contract covers 18.5 miles of US 283 from US 87 to the Colorado River, for seaboating, awarded to Brannan Contractors, Inc. of Victoria under Billy R. Russell. In Brady, absentee voting reported light for school and city elections, with two contested city council races featuring Steve Black, Kadhrann Hallmark, Kenneth Young, Chad Colton, and Daymon McBee among candidates. statements from Black and Hallmark circulated alongside campaign notes.

Flood Watershed Meeting Slated At Ranchlander

The Concho Soil and Water Conservation District Board schedules a public meeting at 2 p m April 16 at the Ranchlander Center Melvin to review a tentative watershed protection and flood prevention plan for the Southwest Laterals Watershed. Structures are planned for Salt Creek in McCulloch and Concho counties with local sponsors including the Concho and San Saba Brady District Boards and county courts. Soil Conservation Service representatives will discuss the environmental impact statement and address technical questions.

Kim King named Texas Tech masked Red Raider for 1975 season

Kim King an animal science student and Brady rancher will ride Happy V as the Red Raider for the 1975 season. King 21 is the son of Dr. J S King and Mrs. King, earned a 2.89 GPA, interviewed March 17 and tested March 19, succeeding Anne Lynch. He works at the Texas Tech feedlot and is a former Tech Rodeo Association member, set to be a senior in 1975-76.
