Multiple break ins across Bowie Nocona and Saint Jo alleys last Friday to Saturday targeted Bowie High School Alexander office vault Coca Cola till Nocona South Ward Saint Jo Cafe and V F W Hall. Nine U S Army rifles and public address gear were stolen from the Bowie VFW Hall with some firearms later returned after warnings to suspects.

Big Irrigation Project Starts in Montague County
Hines Clark, a prominent Montague County businessman, launches one of northern Texas’s largest irrigation systems. The portable sprinkler setup with 2,600 feet of aluminum pipe and a Fairbanks Morse engine will irrigate 100 acres north of Belcherville and 80 acres at Madrid Clover on the Lawson and nearby lands, with a 12 acre lake aiding water supply.

Presbyterian Revival Attracts Unusual Local Interest
The Presbyterian Church hosts Rev. M. H. Applewhite of Del Rio as guest minister for a revival. Applewhite, an evangelist singer with Texas-wide experience, has led several Bible Conferences and music for six years at the Hill Country Cowboy Camp Meeting. Dairy Show Draws Record Crowd at Pelham Park
The largest Dairy Show to date drew a big crowd at Pelham Park Bowie on Thursday. Fifty nine animals were entered with entries from Montague Wise Jack Denton and Young counties. In judging H Stoddard won the adult class and B J Sheppard was second. In the junior class a four way tie for first included Don Wright J C Wright J W Fry and Joe Gene Cook. Edwin Kleinhans Bobby Winn and Aline Ray tied for second.

Big shipment of steers from Montague county attracts attention
Montague county rancher Roscoe Edwards shipped 275 head of large steers from between Stoneburg and Ringgold to Kansas City over the Rock Island railway. The cattle valued about 75000 dollars. A similar shipment was made two weeks earlier for Edwards and Harry Walker of Stoneburg.

City Council Grants Paid Vacations For Employees
At a Monday night meeting the City Council approved paid vacations for staff with at least 180 days of service, one week per year. For 1951 vacations are to be prorated by service length with limits. Sickleave provisions provide full pay for one week and half pay for two weeks. Mayor's pay increases to 50 dollars monthly plus automobile expenses.
Hail Damage Strikes Bowie Area In Severe Storms
Heavy rains, hail and strong winds hit Bowie and surrounding communities from Saturday through Monday night. Four inches of rain fell in parts while Sunset and near Fruitland suffered major crop damage. Shannon area reported near total crop loss as streams filled and pastures benefited from the moisture.
