Five Turkish exchange students visit Texas farming sites
Five young men from Turkey spent two days in this county visiting the Experimental Fruit Station and local farms. Hosted by Uriel Randolph and County Agent Wiley Roberts, the visitors attended A&M for a semester and are touring Texas and New Mexico. They praised American education and mechanization, noted Turkey’s rising tractor use, and expressed homesickness for Texas. They also admired cowboy gear and planned to wear a steer-belt buckle in Turkey. They toured Joe Benton Angus farm, Montague grape and apple sites, and other farms before running out of time.

Mother of Bowie Man Dies in Wichita Falls
Mrs. L. H. Mowrey aged 68 died Tuesday at the home of her daughter Mrs. J W Ross in Wichita Falls after a long illness. She had lived in Decatur for years and will be buried there. She was mother of Leon Mowery of Bowie.
