Scott seeks South Ward post in Bowie council race
James Monroe Scott announces for the South Ward Alderman seat to fill a July 17 special election vacancy caused by Bud Parr's resignation. He is the sole candidate. Scott, 81, has Bowie roots since 1902, retired after city service and pipeline work, widowed resident of 400 Decatur Street, active in city politics and a long time Methodist, protesting a police investigation at his home over alleged trash burning.

Bowie National Bank Moves to New Modern Building
Bowie's Bowie National Bank staff will move into a larger modern building at the Y of Tarrant and Walnut Streets, with a round the clock crew to finish by Monday opening. Harold Ensey says a formal opening with tours will follow after staff works through the initial operation, no date set yet. The bank features include a free Gold Room for organizations, a spacious lobby, a drive-in window, and large front windows.

Bellevue High School hosts a reunion for former students and teachers on Sunday June 27. Two Women Injured in One Car Crash on Jones Street
Mary Diane Darnell of Saint Jo and her cousin Maurene Fitzgerald of Belgarden California suffered multiple cuts and bruises in a one car crash on Jones Street around 8 30 Wednesday morning. The 1963 Corvair went out of control struck a ditch and a tree then flipped onto its top. Both women were treated and released at Bowie Clinic.
